Germantown, WI, October 30, 2013, – The U14 FC Wisconsin Academy Team participated at the first US Soccer Academy showcase in Carmel, Indiana this past weekend, Oct 26th-27th. The team continued their improvement against excellent opposition in the form of Cincinnati United Premier, and the Texans SC who are one of the top programs in the US Soccer Academy, by going undefeated for the weekend.
The team got their first win of the season defeating Cincinnati United Premier 3-1, with goals from Jonathon Hernandez, Mark Orlowski, and Trey Goodnetter, with Kamrin Pegues adding two assists.
“We were really pleased at how the boys responded in the second half. They dominated the second half and scored three quality goals, sharing the ball and working together. We were extremely proud of their determination, work rate and execution” said USSDA Associate Director Billy Solberg.
The following day, the team battled to a hard fought 1-1 tie against the Texans SC in an extremely entertaining game. FC Wisconsin's goal was scored by Axel Soriano off of a well delivered free-kick from Jonathon Hernandez.
The defense of Sam Thomann, Ben Leas, Axel Soriano, and Will Hamilton, defended with tenacity and great determination to allow the Texans very few chances in the 2nd half, to deservedly earn the tie.
The weekend highlighted the great togetherness and commitment to working as a team that this group has started to display, which was a key factor in both positive results.
“These boys are continuing to prove as a team they can compete against the best opposition in the nation on any given day. The attitude and work rate playing in the top league in the country has been superb. This group continues to take steps forward every day in training and they are being noticed and rewarded for all their work” said USSDA Director Ben Shepherd.
The Team will be back in action the weekend of November 9th and 10th, when the USSDA boys program take on both St Louis Scott Gallagher teams.
