USSDA 14s Attend USSDA Futsal Event in Chicago

Over the week of February 8th and 9th, the FC Wisconsin Nationals USSDA 14’s participated in USSDA Futsal event played at the Chicago Futsal Academy in Melrose Park, IL.

FC Wisconsin Nationals USSDA 14’s took a break from playing 2 years up in the U16 age group of the MKE Futsal League in order to participate in the USSDA Futsal event.

The Chicago based USSDA Futsal event featured clubs from the USSDA Central Conference which include: Chicago Magic, Sockers FC, St Louis Scott Gallagher, Vardar, Crew Wolves, St Louis Scott Gallagher Metro, Chicago Fire, Minnesota Thunder, Internationals, Columbus Crew, Indiana Fire and FC Wisconsin Nationals.

“This is a great opportunity for our players, playing in the top league in the country, to compete, improve, and be evaluated by US Soccer Staff.  There is nothing even comparable to the level and ability to be seen by US Soccer.  We were really proud of our players and their continued improvement” said Co-Director Billy Solberg.

Each club would play two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday.  FC Wisconsin competed against Vardar, Internationals, Sockers Minnesota Thunder, and St Louis Scott Gallagher, earning wins over Sockers (8-3), and Internationals (8-2).  “We were quite pleased with how the boys showcased themselves.  They improved with each game they played, in an extremely intense competitive environment.  We have such a great mix of players ranging from 12 years old to 14.  We are a young squad that has been applauded for developing our younger players through the top league in the country.” said Co-Director Ben Shepherd.

The FC Wisconsin Nationals USSDA 14’s will head back to the MKE Futsal League where they already have some significant results over SC Waukesha’s U16’s, Bavarian White Zwei U16’s and Brookfield U16’s.  The FCW USSDA 14’s are currently sitting in seventh place out of fifteen U16 teams with 4 games left to play.

**FC Wisconsin Nationals is the only club in the state competing in the US Soccer Sponsored USSDA.
