U18 Boys White Win Brookfield Session I Title

For the U18 Boys White who had previously lost to semi-final opponent, Brookfield Red, by more than 10 goals in league play, scoring the game winner and securing their place in the final with a mere 4 seconds left couldn't have seemed more improbable or dramatic.

However, given that fact that Sam Schneider's game winner found itself in the back of the net after deflecting off of an opponenent on a Friday the 13th, the superstitious among the opponent supporters may have been feeling more than a bit unlucky. The determined U18 Boys White were led by a prolific Colin Dowling's 7 goal grab and goal keeper Braden Federle's key saves in what proved to be a very physical semi-final match.

In the 9 o'clock championship game against Whitewater, some early physical play cost the opponent 2 goals as the U18 Boys White capitalized on yellow cards, forcing Whitewater to play a man down. FCW entered halftime leading 4-3. Remarkably, especially for an indoor game, where the action is fast and mistakes can be very quickly punished by quick counter attacks and easy chances, the U18 Boys White held Whitewater scoreless and went on to a convincingly 7-3 championship victory. Contrasting the semi final, the championship game was characterized by a more balanced distribution of scoring with 4 different players contributing on the team's first 4 goals.

"What an incredible night! Such an improvement from the beginning of the session," said coach Brian Kimmel. "This is a step in the right direction and a confidence booster moving forward. So proud of the boys," he remarked.

Congratulations FCW U18 Boys White!!
