U18 Academy Defeats Chicago Fire, and U18 NPL Upsets Last Years State Champions, SC Waukesha

USSDA 18's defeat Chicago Fire U18 USSDA 1-0 and FC Wisconsin U18 Black advance in state cup by eliminating last years state cup winner and national finalist.

It has been a good week so far for our U18 Academy Team and U18 NPL team who both picked up big results over the course of the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

U18 NPL Advance to State Cup Semi-Finals

The weekend successes began in Appleton as our U18 Boys defeated Madison FC 5-0 on Saturday, then followed up that win on Sunday with a 4-0 result over Hartford United. This set the scene for a matchup on Monday against last year’s State Cup winners as well as National Championship Finalists SC Waukesha. Although SC Waukesha took the lead midway through the 2nd half, an injury time equalizer by Izzy Betancourt off an assist from Bobby Saskowski meant that FC Wisconsin would go through to the semi-finals on the 4th tiebreaker.

The boys will now face North Shore United this coming Saturday at 11am in Appleton. The club would like to congratulate Coach Marty Lataille and all his players, for their efforts this weekend, which was a credit to the club. We wish them the best of luck this coming weekend!!

U18 Academy Knock off top of the table Chicago Fire

Tuesday night saw our U18 Academy team take on the Chicago Fire who were sitting top of the league standings as well as 4th in the nation overall. After a good start to the game Nick Moon was put through by Jamie Colin, and he coolly slotted it home to put FC up 1-0 for the decisive goal of the game. The Fire who had lost only twice in 25 games this season could not get past Bernie Macias in the FC goal who had an excellent performance. FC would always look dangerous on the counter attack and were unfortunate not to add to their lead in the 2nd half, going close through Bayley Scholz, Nikola Atlija, and Nick Moon.

This win represents the first time that our U18 team has defeated the Fire in the 7 year history of the Development Academy, and shows the progress that the program as whole is making.

All three of our Academy teams return to action this weekend against the Internationals on Saturday and The Columbus Crew on Sunday at the FC Soccer Complex.
