Hernandez, Leas and Wangard Participate In U.S. Soccer Training Center

FC Wisconsin Directors of Coaching Ben Shepherd, Billy Solberg and the entire FC Wisconsin staff congratulate USSDA U14 players Jonathon Hernandez, Benjamin Leas and Andre Wangard for receiving invitations to participate in U.S. Soccer Training Center on November 21, 2013 in Glen Elyn, IL.

Both Hernandez, a midfielder and Leas, who plays center back, have been with the club since under 10. Wangard, a goal keeper has played with the club for over 3 years. Their invitations to participate in the U. S. Soccer Training Center are a tremendous honor for the players, the team and our club.

Excerpted from the U.S. Soccer Training Center web page:

The U.S. Soccer Training Center program aims to identify the best players for the U.S. Soccer Youth National Team program. Training Center events are open to the top players from any team, club or organization at no cost to the player.

There are three types of Training Center events.

Sessions
Sessions are free, single-day player identification opportunities for local players with the most potential to train under the direction of U.S. Soccer National Team coaches. U.S. Soccer runs over 300 Sessions per year around the country. Coaches can recommend their players to U.S. Soccer Youth National Team staff by emailing scouting@ussoccer.org.

Local Combines
Local Combines are free, 2-3 day player identification opportunities for local players with the most potential to train under the direction of U.S. Soccer Youth National Team coaches. U.S. Soccer piloted seven Local Combines in 2013 in the major soccer markets for player development in the country. Players are selected based on their performance at Training Center Sessions and other events attended by U.S. Soccer scouts.

National Combine
The National Combine is a 5 day player identification opportunity for players with the most potential to train under the direction of U.S. Soccer National Team coaches. U.S. Soccer will hold the first National Combine in 2013 at Nike's World Headquarters in Portland, Ore. All expenses will be covered for the players. Players are selected based on their performance at Training Center Sessions, Local Combines and other events attended by U.S. Soccer scouts.
