Four Selected to attend United States Training Center

9.1.14 – For Immediate Release

FC Wisconsin is proud to announce that four of its players have been selected to participate in the United States Training Center with U14 National Team Coaching Staff on September 8th, in Chicago.

This year, the U14 National Team will be composes of only 2001 and 2002 birth years with the majority of the team made up of the 2001 birth year.  After Coach Bryan Johnson attended FC Wisconsin training sessions on August 19th, he has selected the following four players to attend the training center:  Austin Holtebeck 2001 birth year (his third call up to a training center), Rodolfo (Junior) Ramirez 2001 birth year, Sammy Zelazny 2001 birth year, and Ruben Mesalles a 2002 birth year.

“Take the leagues out of the picture, this is a tribute to these players, our club culture, our club curriculum and how we train.  We continue to focus on player development, skills acquisition and the right way to train and play the game.  These players are very talented and very deserving and certainly make us all proud, but they also understand the importance of hard work, being pushed by their teammate’s day in and day out in the proper training environment and putting in some homework we give them off the field.  We couldn’t be more proud of these players and the club for the all the hard work”  said USSDA Director Ben Shepherd.

This will be Austin’s third trip into a training center and the other players first invite.  “It is a huge honor to be invited back to a US Soccer Training Center.  I am grateful to FC Wisconsin for preparing me to play at the highest level I can.  Getting to play in front of the U14 US YNT coach is an amazing opportunity that I would not have without the program at FC Wisconsin” said Holtebeck.

Players will attend the US Training Center in Chicago on September 8th and be evaluated over the course of training sessions by the US Nationals team staff.  Players attending are all those selected by the US Assessors who have attended the various club training sessions across the Midwest.
