FC Wisconsin Appoints TC Ward U11/12 Youth Director

FC Wisconsin is excited to announce its newest coach to the FC Family. TC Ward joins the club's coaching family immediately and will oversee the U11 and U12 programs, assisting with the Jr. Academy. Ward takes over for Teren Schuster who just accepted the position of Men's Head Coach at Briar Cliff University.

“We knew we had to hire someone to continue to build on what Teren started, with a similar philosophy and positive coaching style. TC was the first person that came to mind because of his energy, record of developing players, encouraging creativity, and his positive coaching. Players love to play for him and are excited to participate in his training sessions. We couldn’t be more excited for TC to join the FC Family and we are beyond confident in the role and positivity he will bring to this program,” said Co-Director of Coaching Billy Solberg.

Ward grew up in Wisconsin and has strong local ties because he played and coached in the state. He is extremely well respected within the soccer community. Ward played college soccer at Benedictine University where he was All-Conference his freshman year, leading the team in assists and was second in goals before transferring to Marquette University to play for Coach Adlard (another coach who came to FC Wisconsin after his collegiate coaching days).

“I must admit having another Adlard and Marquette disciple on staff warms my heart. I can't wait to share more stories of Coach Adlard with TC, knowing we already have similar Adlard phrases, philosophy, and outlook on the game. This is just super exciting on so many level, and raises the level of this program immediately,” echoed Solberg.

In 2019, Ward was named the Boys Director of Coaching at Strike Soccer Club. “The hiring of TC to oversee our U11 and U12 program is a huge coup for FC Wisconsin. Over many years, TC has shown himself to be a great developer of young players within these age groups. His positivity, enthusiasm, and drive to help young players improve and enjoy the game will be a massive asset to our club. We could not have found a better person who fits with the ethos of FC Wisconsin. We are excited to see the impact that TC will have on our young players and welcome him to the FC Family,” said Co-Director of Coaching Ben Shepherd.

Ward brings a wealth of knowledge and knows how to design and deliver sessions to improve players. His coaching style will encourage creativity, fun, and love for the game. These attributes are key to developing young players within these age groups. His influence and impact within the club will be extremely beneficial in the long-term development of our players.

“FC Wisconsin isn’t only known as one of the top clubs in the state, it is recognized nationwide as one of the preeminent clubs in player development. From the outside looking in, I always knew there was something different at FC WIsconsin. When I met Ben and Billy, it became clearer as to what that was. From top to bottom, the organization is designed around a consistent, clear, player development pathway. Not only does the culture help develop players, it allows FC Wisconsin to do it at a more rapid rate,” noted Ward.

“One thing you always hear about is the FC Family, and from the outside looking in, it’s hard to put into words. I could tell right away with the organization, that it cared not only about me as a coach, but my family as well. While soccer is the lifeblood at the club, the heart pumping it is the FC Family,” concluded Ward.

FC Wisconsin could not be happier to welcome Coach TC Ward. He is already the perfect fit for the FC Family.
